19mo Check-in

Sorry this is 2 days late. Life keeps getting in the way of blogging 🙂

So, my baby is now a 19mo toddler.

We go to the park 2x a day: from 9 – 10am and then again either at 2pm or 4pm.  Yesterday, as I watched him climb the stairs to the slides, my eyes welled up with tears watching how independent he is.   Then my jaw dropped to the floor when he figured out how to climb the CHAIN LADDER. This child won’t be stopped. OY.

So, on to the Baby Center chart.

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

  • Uses a spoon and fork -> well, he uses them, but this says nothing about using them CORRECTLY. LOL. He prefers his fingers.
  • Runs -> Nate’s been running for months.
  • Throws a ball underhand -> Check
  • Enjoys helping around the house -> Yes, and he’s still obsessed with the broom 🙂

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

  • Understands as many as 200 words -> I really haven’t counted. He understands a TON.
  • Recognizes when something is wrong (e.g., calling a dog a cat) -> eh, I’m not sure about this one.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

  • Washes and dries own hands with help -> Check, this one he likes doing.
  • Points to picture or object when you call it by name -> if it’s a picture of a dog or of himself, he’s up for the challenge.
  • May know when she needs to pee -> No comment.
